She needs to have a magical quality. Not an obvious sweet girl. A slight tomboy with a strong connection to her dad. Filled with curiosity and imagination but like most children, easily distracted by whatever is streaming on her tablet. Expressive but real with a bit of edge to her. She takes this special journey with her father and is transformed from an aloof tween to someone who becomes deeply in tune with nature and the world around her as she encounters a forest full of wild, magical creatures. We need someone who can be at home in the forest. We need them to engage fully with being out in the wild, ready to roll in the undergrowth, to get dirty.. put up with the cold etc.. – we need an adventurous spirit. Overall: There isn’t a ton of dialogue in this, so they need to tell the story without the crutch of speaking. And be able to convey deep real emotion through facial expression and body language.
